Leadership Course – Sherbrook Yarra Ranges District
May 27 - May 29
Who is it for? The course is designed for primarily for Scouts 12 or older who are in PL or APL role or may be moving towards these roles.
When? The Sherbrooke Forest / Yarra Ranges Scout Leadership Course is set to run over the weekend of May 27 to May 29 2022. The Course will commence on the Friday evening at 7:30pm for registration with final parade at 3:00pm on Sunday.
Where? The Course will be held at Gilwell Park in the EM Derrick Centre (east side of the main road). We have bunkroom accommodation. A Gilwell Park map is attached.
What to bring? Full Uniform for opening and closing parade, sleeping bag and pillow, camp blanket, personal toiletries, torch, water proof jacket, clothing (separate from uniform) suitable for the weather forecast for the weekend, (clothing may get dirty so not your best would be good), solid shoes or boots, note pad and pen and a big sense of humor ready to have fun.
Catering? This camp will be fully catered you will be preparing meals, setting tables and wash dishes!!!! Please eat your dinner BEFORE you arrive on Friday night.
What will you do??: You will work in Patrols that will be formed by a random process at the start of the camp so you will be mixed up with Scouts from other Scout Units. You will undertake a mix of activities, inside and outside, that will focus on leadership skills for Scouts leading Patrols, there will be some chalk and talk, but mostly it will be doing stuff. If the weather is ok there will be a campfire on Saturday night, so bring your camp blanket.
Cost? The cost of the course has been set at $110.00 (plus a small booking fee), which includes accommodation, all meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch, Scout Leadership book & badge and certificate. (Leaders assisting with the course have NO cost.)
Limit in numbers and attendance? The course is limited to 36 Scouts. Scouts who will be completing their Australian Scout Award in the next 12 months and who have not previously attended a Leadership Course will be considered first over those who have already attended a course, along with those who hold leadership positions in their home Unit.
